BYLAWS OF CIACPE<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Introduction:<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The IACPE are held every three years in a different country of the Inter-American region in order to exchange experiences and to define actions for improvement of the Physics Education in this area. Each IACPE is organized by the Council for the Inter-American Conferences on Physics Education (CIACPE) in coordination with a national committee of the host country.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To congregate physics educators of the Americas in one Inter-American Council of Physics Education.<\/li>\n
  2. To stimulate communication, networking in teaching and learning physics, exchanging instructional resources, research findings, experiences, and studies among physics educators of the Americas.<\/li>\n
  3. To organize an Inter-American Conference on physics education every three years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Membership:<\/b><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. All countries of the Americas are entitled to representation on this Council.<\/li>\n
    2. Each country shall be entitled to nominate up to two representatives to the Council. Countries with a large number of active physics education groups may be entitled to one more representative to the Council.<\/li>\n
    3. Council-membership nominations can be made by national associations or groups of physics and\/or physics teachers, or by members of the Council. Nominees must be persons active in the teaching and learning of Physics in their countries (which does not mean they can not be retired in their institutions). Advisory members can be proposed by members of the Council. In all cases, acceptance shall be decided by the Council.<\/li>\n
    4. In one of the meetings of the Council in each IACPE, an analysis of the composition of the Council will be made. It will be necessary to replace members who have not presented papers at the last two IACPE, who represent countries with little systematic assistance to IACPE, who have had little involvement in Council activities between IACPE, or who have ceased in their activities related to Physics teaching and learning.<\/li>\n
    5. An Executive Committee made up of a President, a Vice-President, and an Executive Secretary, shall be elected from among the Council members, every three years.<\/li>\n
    6. At one of the first Council meetings during each Conference, members shall nominate candidates for the offices of President and Executive Secretary. Prior to the end of the Conference, the Council members present shall hold an election to choose among the nominees. The office of Vice-President shall be held by one of the members of the host-country of the next Conference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Duties of the Council members:<\/b><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Hold at least one full meeting during each Conference.<\/li>\n
      2. Elect, by secret ballot, the members of the Executive Committee.<\/li>\n
      3. Choose, by secret ballot, the host-country and one alternative host-country for each Conference.<\/li>\n
      4. Recommend the general organizational guidelines for each Conference.<\/li>\n
      5. Propose new members to the Council.<\/li>\n
      6. Stimulate Conference participation among physics educators.<\/li>\n
      7. Submit talks for the Conference in which they will participate, when they intend to get financial support from the organizing committee.<\/li>\n
      8. Approve minutes of physical meetings during IACPE and other documents agreed as necessary ones, at meetings in person or electronically (committees productions, IACPE reports, etc.).<\/li>\n
      9. Actively participate in Council activities arising between IACPE.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Duties of the Executive Committee: <\/b><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Meet al least once a year, whenever possible.<\/li>\n
        2. Lend advice to the organizing committee of each Conference.<\/li>\n
        3. Maintain regular communication with Council members.<\/li>\n
        4. Lend active cooperation to obtain financial support for each Conference.<\/li>\n
        5. Submit to the Council for consideration and approval, organizational and especially academic aspects, necessary for the ongoing IACPE, through the President and the Secretary.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

          Duties of the President:<\/b><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Preside at all Executive Committee and Council meetings.<\/li>\n
          2. Take part in the organizing committee of each Conference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

            Duties of the Vice-President:<\/b><\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Assume responsibility before the Council for de Conference to be held in his\/her country.<\/li>\n
            2. Nominate and chair the national organizing committee of the Conference.<\/li>\n
            3. Report periodically to the Executive Committee on the progress of the organization of the ongoing Conference.<\/li>\n
            4. Submit to the Executive Committee, for the approval of the Council, the technical-academic report of the Conference, in a period not exceeding three months after its ending.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

              Duties of the Executive Secretary:<\/b><\/p>\n

                \n
              1. Keep in touch with all Council members.<\/li>\n
              2. Execute decisions made at Council and Executive Committee meetings.<\/li>\n
              3. Keep the Council directory updated.<\/li>\n
              4. Prepare the minutes of Council meeting and keep records of Council decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                 <\/p>\n
